updating ios on ipad via computer

My daughters ipad has not been updated- she just apparently kept ignoring th update reminders. Now it says " the version of ios running on the ipad does not support wirelessly updating to this version of ios. Please connect your device to itunes on a computer to update the latest software"

I have no idea what to do!!
