Should I buy an iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone Xr for 2020

I currently have an iPhone 6, and looking for a new phone. I've found some good refurbished deals on iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone Xr, I can save $100aud or more by getting the iPhone 8 Plus. However, I'd like this phone to at least last me until 2022 or 2023, I'm not going to be using it for very demanding purposes (social media, music, media watching etc.) and even my current iPhone 6 is still fast enough for most purposes. I don't need a fancy camera. I've looked at Benchmark results and seen that the iPhone 8 Plus still has very high performance especially compared to top android phones, however in terms of longevity would the iPhone XR be worth the extra money? Thanks
