Why does my watch not count steps when on a treadmill?

Are you swinging your watch arm?

Steps are counted by your Apple Watch accelerating and decelerating as your arm swings back and forth while walking.

If you are holding the handles on the treadmill, you will not be moving the Apple Watch.

What workout are you using?

Indoor or outdoor walk?
