Mac stuck and won't load pass the apple logo

my iMac will not load pass the apple logo. Any suggestions?

Try resetting the NVRAM per the directions in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063 and if that does not work, please restart in Safe Mode per the directions in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262. If neither of these work, the next step is to take it to your local Apple Store or independent AASP.
