Format Numbers cell to auto enter the number in the cell above +1 in each new row

I am trying to create a formula to have the cells in column A auto populate with 2020-XXX, with the XXX being the end number in the cell directly above it. Column A row 1 is 2020-001, Column A row 2 would then be 2020-002 etc..

I have tried a number of different formulas but none work. Has anyone accomplished this before and if so would you be willing to share the formula?

Thanks

AJ

Judging from your screenshot the formula seems to be working in rows 2 and below.

In row 1 try selecting the cell, hitting <delete>, then go to the panel at the right and format as Automatic. Then reenter the formula in that cell.

For basic operations in Numbers such as fill I highly recommend spending a little time at Help > Numbers Help in your menu. There are a lot of useful explanations there.
