How to paste text using the iOS TV keyboard

On Apple TV I used to be able to open an app (on Apple TV) and a virtual keyboard option would present on the iPhone/iPad etc allowing me to copy/paste text from the iPhone to the Apple TV app in question. This is no longer working, is there an alternative way of doing this?

Why am I asking this? I have unique 40+ character complex character passwords I use for each different app, entering these passwords for each app is not practical and copy/paste used to work.
