I can no longer paste passwords in from my password manager which makes this feature completely useless. Where did it go? And there is also no more remote app offered except for that little remote app on the main phone screen which will never connect to an Apple TV and when it does is extremely crippled. In general why would you remove functionality?
Working fine for me. The digital remote is built into control centre and has the same functionality as was available through the app. If you are having issues then more info would be needed. FYI: This is a user forum, you aren't speaking with Apple.
Thanks for the information and clarification. The remote is a constant point of irritation for me. I don’t understand many of the decisions Apple makes especially with regards to removing working features that I have come to rely on. They seem to like to do this a lot.
the original remote app used to let you do text entry then that got pushed to pop up’s on the phone. The app in the control center often won’t connect to my Apple TV. And now I can’t paste text in the little pop ups. This is super annoying when all I want to do is watch TV.
Not a problem. Just to make reiterate, this is a user forum and the purpose would be to help troubleshoot. So I am not going to comment on other Apple decisions. As far as the remote app, it's function has been moved to the control centre and works the same, including text entry, which I can confirm.
I also use a password manager and have no issue when pasting. If the virtual remote is having issue with connection then further troubleshooting of the network would be needed.
To give a proper baseline ensure the IOS device and Apple TV are up to date. If your Apple TV is using wifi try connecting using ethernet. To see a status of the local network run a diagnostic report on computer using stumbler, netstumbler or similar. Look for signal strength, noise, nearby networks.
OK. Hmm. I have not seen a way to enter text through the control center app when I am able to connect. I will have to poke around more. Thanks again.
