Lost Audio iMac

This started when I was running Mojave on my Late 2013 iMac, The audio just went away. I reset the Pram and the smc but none of them were successful. Hoping that installing Catalina might help I installed it. Still no audio but I did lose some older programs that I frequently used. Any further suggestions as to what actions might help?

Increase the Output Volume:

Increase the out out volume on the Mac, and application. If an external speaker is inserted, then try some other speaker or headsets. And be certain it’s volume is increased. Plug power to the speaker as well.
