I have the largest iPad, the 12.9 and really miss having the split keyboard. Sure the floating keyboard works, but having access to the QWERTY keyboard with both hands at either end of this rather large iPad was genius. We could really use that split keyboard back as an option. Is there any chance we can get that functionality back in the future?

Nobody here can offer any comment about what Apple may, or may not, change in the future. For reasons known only to Apple, the 12.9” iPad Pro models have never supported the Split Keyboard feature.
