how to transport my photos from my iphone6 plus to my mac computer

I checked to see if iCloud work and its there but photos I took today will not transfer over. what is the procedure do I take to preform this task. nothing I have done works. I even plugged my iPhone directly into the computer and I still could not get it to work.

Go to Settings/{your name}/iCloud and turn on Photos. Leave the phone plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi and the photos in iCloud will sync to the phone.


Also turn on iCloud photos in System Preferences-Apple ID on your Mac.
