Create apple id just for iMessage?

Presently my wife’s ipads use my apple id for everything. Can I create a new apple id just for her to use on iMessage? And keep all other services under my id?

iPad Pro, iOS 13

If you want to sure. It is the AppleID used with Apple services that defines the account. So each service, in theory, can have a different AppleID login - icloud, Facetime, iMessage, these forums, etc.

Note though, that if she uses a different AppleID for iMessage, she will not be able to use features like messages in icloud unless she creates and uses an icloud account using that same AppleID. To use many of the iCloud sync services for calls, messages across devices, both iCloud and the companion service (iMessage, Facetime) must be using the same AppleID as iCloud.

She could just use her AppleID for everything on her device(s) and you two use family sharing to share purchases, cloud storage, and so forth. That would be the recommended thing to do in order to avoid mixing each other’s data (notes, contacts, reminders, email, call history, messages, etc).
