Download and run Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our own colleagues here in ASC and is about the most proven anti-malware software for Mac. It’s the only one recommended by Apple tech support folks.

Remove Yahoo Search hack from Safari I recently downloaded and installed OS Mojave and ever since then my searches in Safari are redirected from my default search engine, Google, to Yahoo. I see this is a common hijack that can get installed when downloading new third party software but I only downloaded the Mac OS. What can I do, short of reinstalling the system, to remove this hack? I've tried using Malwarebytes and deleting an apple.com plist related to Safari (don't recall exactly which one) and zapped the pram on restart. When I first test this problem out, I get a Google search, on second and subsequent tries, it goes back to Yahoo. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, the easier the better of course. No extensions are installed.

Any updated information on how to remove anysearch manager from Safari? I have a macbook air. My safari has been hijacked by anysearchmanager. Tried all the necessary steps even the activity monitor and still struggling with this search engine. How do I go about deleting it from my computer. FYI Malwarebytes did not work.

Malware Removal I recently noticed my Safari browser is using Yahoo search with Google as my default. Yes I have the bug bad on a one year old Mac Air with macOS Big Sur v11.2.3. When I search, the malware redirects me quickly to something it wants me to see but much of the site inaccessible. I've done all the reasonable attempts to remove or quarantine the malware including Malwarebytes, Avast etc. Those two antivirus programs don't even see the virus. It appears to be a common problem. What should be my next step? Would uninstalling/reinstalling Safari help? Should I reinstall MacOS? Can't Apple come up with a reasonable fix for this?

Also check Safari/Preferences/General to see what is set as the Home Page.
