Safari Homepage setting greyed out - fixed

Hi,

I also had the problem with the field of the Safari Homepage setting greyed out, and the homepage was forced to a blank page with a nonsense address. I had no extra profiles installed and the only way I could define a Homepage was the command

sudo dscl . mcxset /Users/USERNAME com.apple.Safari HomePage always -string "www.google.de"

This however did not solve the issue of the locked setting field. Thanks to the team of Combo Cleaner (Combo Cleaner – Antivirus and system cleaner for Mac) I was able to fix it, go to the terminal and type

sudo dscl . mcxdeleteall $HOME

Restart the computer and the field is modifiable again.
