You set it up or someone set it up for you? Did you ask the person that gave you the iPad?

How do you get back into the iPad when it goes to sleep? If you are using Touch ID or face ID and you ever shut the iPad off, you will need the passcode to get back into it when it powers up again.

If you don’t know the passcode, whether you set the code or not, you are going to have to erase it at some point to get rid of the passcode.

I got the ipad for Christmas and set it up but didn't assign a passcode to it. I got a message that there is an update for it but have to have the passcode for download and installation.
