Am getting verification code on trusted device when trying to sign into ITunes on Apple TV gen 2. Typing the verification code immediately after the iTunes password (with no spaces) and it still won’t let me login to ITunes on the Apple TV.

You are probably exceeding the time limit, you would need to enter the password and then manually request the code so you can use the time wisely for adding that code to the password. Be aware that the 2nd gen is classified as obsolete and no longer supported by Apple for any issues that should occur.
Does fix have to be initiated from their side ??
