Can you receive READ RECEIPTS on messages

Denise's response is correct to your question. I misunderstood your question. Apologize for that.

For YOU to receive read receipts, the sender of the iMessage needs to turn the Send Read Receipts to ON. The sender has to do that. If the sender does not want to send Read Receipts then you cannot get them. Does this help?

To send Read Receipts globally (everyone) in iMessages then go to Settings-->>Messages scroll down and toggle ON Send Read Receipts.

To send Read Receipts to only chosen contacts then open Messages, Choose a conversation, touch the person's name above and tap on INFO. Then toggle ON the Send Read Receipts switch.

I think that means when you receive a message a receipt is sent to the sender, whereas the OP may want to see if messages he has sent have been read (which would of course depend on the recipient having 'send receipt' turned on). Not all mail systems include read receipt (Hotmail/livemail and gmail don't).
