If I sign out of iCloud on my old phone, will it sign out of it on my new phone? What do I need to clear off my old phone to sell it?

Signing out of iCloud I may be giving my old iPad to a friend and need to remove all personal information. I have downloaded the Apple support information as to what I should do, but I have one query. The support information says that I should sign out of iCloud and my question is, if I sign out of iCloud on the old iPad does this sign me out of iCloud on all my other devices? Use the following procedure. It will not affect anything on your new phone. What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
