USB superdrive with MacBook Air 2019

Is it possible to use USB SuperDrive with the newest MacBook Air? The SuperDrive only has an USB-plugin and the mac only usb-c-port. I bought an adapter but it says it’s compatible only with MacBook and MacBook Pro, and when I try use it the computer asks me to plug the SuperDrive directly to the computer’s USB port. (Obviously I can’t do this since they don’t match.) So as I said, my question is, is there some adapter that will work, or is it just impossible to use SuperDrive with MacBook Air?
