GHOST LEFT ON MONITOR SCREEN

GHOST has appeared on Apple Cinema Display of images loaded by 2018 MacMini running Catalina OS.

With multiple windows open, earlier screens appear as ghosts in the background of the current window.

Why?? Fix??

This did not occur before upgrading from my old MacMini running Sierra OS.

Mac mini, macOS 10.13

Your Cinema display is getting old, and ghosting can arise with older LCDs.

Swap back to Sierra and see if things work better there. Swap for a different DisplayPort display, too. That'll rule in or rule out Catalina as a factor here.

Analog video connections can also ghost because of cable problems and cable degradation, and a cable swap can sometimes clear ghosting, but a DisplayPort connection is digital and should not encounter that issue. But I'd still try a cable swap here, as it's cheap.

Have a look at new monitors and prices, too. Prices have dropped and sizes have increased in the years since Cinema Display.

Reconnected the old MacMini to the monitor and there is no GHOST lurking in the background. Old Mac with Sierra OS and old Apple Cinema Display work fine together (Old Stuff Rules!) There seems to be something about Catalina (a ghost) demanding I buy a new monitor.

Regarding cables, they are bundled together and hardwired to the monitor with a USB and a HDMI cable connected to ports in the new MacMini. Not sure how and what cable can be replaced.
