Video card/monitor ghosting

So, I am having a rather strange issue where I get ghosting on my monitor - it's the best way I can describe it! It happens to Finder windows, open programs, etc. What you see in the photo attached to this post is a bunch of shortcuts/icons from the desktop which I moved into a different folder.

IMHO that looks and sounds more like (because they fade), an Image Persistence issue and not a failing GPU.

take a screenshot of the ghosting with preview, if you can see the ghosting in the screenshot then its the gpu, if you cant its the LCD monitor

Appears like a failing GPU, please take it to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider to be diagnosed.

In the old days we\d make Block jpg & a White jpg & put them in one folder & set a Screen Saver to go through that folder for awhile.

Try an independent Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Well not much you can do, personally given the age of the computer and cost of repair I'd replace it. Shame it's only 6 years old.
