Is there a way to see file transfer status between ios and an iPhone in Finder?
When I transfer files they don't show up until completed, and I can't find anywhere to view the status of current transfers.

Yes, the sync function in Finder is vastly inferior to the way it worked with iTunes on earlier versions. iTunes would not only show a progress bar, it would display the filenames being transferred as the sync continued. Finder DOES show progress, but it’s just the little disk next to the phone’s entry in the Finder sidebar.
Hi ownzered,
Apple does have an area to give suggestions and feedback:
Take Care.
Thanks for the details. This doesn't seem like a great choice for usability. With web browsers and Finder (with any other file transfers) we always have a progress bar and time remaining displayed somewhere, in a transfers window or downloads tab. Same with file transfer using iTunes in the past, it always showed the progress during the file transfer. Since it's such a slow process to transfer files, (even with USB 3.0, which should be much faster), it would be extremely helpful to have this feature added to Finder in the future. Any idea where we can put a request in for that?
Hi ownzered,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you want to see the status of the current transfer between your iPhone and the Finder.
I'm glad to help with this.
In macOS Catalina, there isn't anything that will show you the time remaining or elapsed for a file transfer.
What you will see, is an icon next to your iPhone in the sidebar that will show that something is being transferred.
Sync content between your Mac and iPhone or iPad
Best Regards.
