can't eject external SSD due to photos process...

Hi

Ive just moved my photos library to an external SSD as it had got too big for my internal. However, now every time I go to eject it, It won't let me because its being used by the computer. I have no apps running but I've narrowed it down to these processes, that if I force quit - lets me eject it...

Im guessing they're something to do with data analyses of photos done in the background, but I was wondering if a: this will eventually finish so I can eject without having to force quit these, or b: I can choose to only do this when photos is open? (or c: automatically quit these when I try to eject!)

many thanks for any helpful suggestions

Nick

If you try to eject the drive a couple of times in a row by Control (right) - clicking on it and selecting Eject do you get this message box?

That should allow you to eject the drive. The background processes will run until they are complete so you'll just have to wait. They are related to face and object recognition in Photos, iCloud syncing, etc.
