Sound keeps turning off and on

I got a new MacBook Air that has worked fine until now. The sound keeps turning on and off constantly and I can't really listen to anything. In the output device settings it just does the same, turning on and off. There is something there called unknown and my headphones "External headphones", there's no internal speakers even if I take out my headphones.
