Sleep/wake button doesn’t work

what Can I do when the sleep/wake button in my iPad mini 4 doesn’t work, it doesn’t locks my iPad when not in use anymore. It works to restart the iPad, but not to lock it after use.

iPad won't wake I have an iPad Air version 3 and I have consistent issues with my iPad not waking when I press the home button. I have to either do a hard reset and sometimes that doesn't work so I just have to wait a half hour or so and then it will work fine. Generally have to enter my passcode as if it did finally reset. Any way to fix this?
