iPhone 14 Pro Max Horizontal Lines Across Screen When Phone Wakes Up

Hi there,

I got brand new iPhone and I noticed that when the phone wakes up, horizontal lines flash on the screen. It doesn't happen everytime, just randomly. But it occurs more often when you watch video before your screen turns off.

I don't remember I saw those lines before iOS 16.2 but I have that phone just for 2 weeks. I visited a reddit forum and 4 people said they have the same issue which means (hopefully) it should not be a hardware issue. But I need to know more.

Could you please help?

This was addressed in the most recent iOS 16.3 update. Have you updated your iPhone?

Contained in the link below from Apple on what's included in iOS 16.3 is the following:

Fixes an issue where horizontal lines may temporarily appear while waking up iPhone 14 Pro Max

Then you need to let Apple know. They think they fixed it. And in your case, evidently not.

I have the 14 Pro Max and it has never had these issues.

After you did the update, did you Force Restart your iPhone (something recommended to do after iOS updates)?

Try a Forced Restart, then see if the issue is gone:

Press and quickly release the volume up button
Then press and quickly release the volume down button
Then press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button. Keep holding until the screen goes dark and keep holding until you see the Apple Logo, then let go. Sign back in when prompted.

I haven’t been quick enough to be able to capture it in a photo yet; and it’s not super consistent. Very strange artifact though — and I’m afraid it’s a physical defect that may worsen. Please advise @Apple.

I also have a problem that was not resolved. I had an about 1.5 month old 14 Pro Max and today the staff replaced the "old" one with a new one, which is also an iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, the problem remains.

When I use the phone and browse/scroll or write messages, the screen freezes/blinks/gasps/ glashus. Could this be a software bug? Or are the 14 pro maxes to blame?

Everything was done on my previous phone, screen replaced, phone reset, everything imaginable + new ios was also on it, but the problem didn't go away. Today I got a brand new phone and with the same error. Is anyone else experiencing this error or is it really a problem with the phone? Please help ❤
