Japanese to American Keyboard Layout?

Hi there. I use a Japanese MacBook Air, and although its pretty convenient, I don't really like how the keyboard is laid out.

Ex) On the Japanese keyboard, in order to type a quotation mark, you need to type shift + 2, and for the apostrophe, you need type shift + 7, even though on American MacBooks, both of them are on one button.

It's very frustrating on having to remember this type of keyboard since I learned how to type on the American keyboard...

Is there anyway I could change the setting of my keyboard from the Japanese to the American keyboard?

Thanks.

You can create a custom keyboard layout that changes such things with the app Ukelele.

Make sure when you are editing that you set the keyboard type to JIS
