can a gmail email be created in icloud and how do I receive the mail

No: iCloud handles only its own email. You can set up the Gmail account in your Mail app.


You could set up forwarding from your GMail account to your iCloud address, which would enable you to read the messages, but you wouldn't be able to reply to them using the GMail address as the 'From' address, only the iCloud address, which might confuse recipients.
