So with my current Energy Saver Preferences, my MacBook automatically dims when unplugged from power. What I would like to do (via Terminal, software, anything) is to have the display automatically go full brightness when plugged back into power.
I'm aware I can turn off the automatic dimming completely, but don't want this disabled.
Anything out there that will accomplish this?

FWIW, I can't tell you why your Mac isn't returning to whatever brightness is set when plugged back in. Mine do.

That helped a little Peter, but didn't solve it completely.
I reset the SMC, and now when I plug back in, the brightness increases a little from the battery level, but still doesn't go to maximum. Anything else I'm missing?
What I meant to say was that on maximum brightness, the screen dims when unplugged, as expected. But when I reconnect power, the screen increases in brightness (which it wasn't doing before) but it still doesn't increase all the way back to maximum

Anyhow, mine returns to max if I set it at max but I don't know what display you have. I have an old lcd backlit display (apple light shines in the lid) so image burn is irrelevant, Yours may be different and protected from excesses.
It will not go max unless it was max when you unplugged.
Probably a good thing. Running a display at full brightness will shorten its life. If you buy a Mac every year or two I guess that won't matter.
Just to add, it also increases the likelihood of image persistence.
OK, but Peter's response suggests expected behaviour is that it should return to full brightness when plugged back in - that's what I'm trying to achieve.
