Broken SATA cable A1470 Time Capsule

Hello Everybody,

I was just succeeding in replacing the broken fan when...the HDD went sideways in reinserting it and broke the sata connector on the disk side.

I would like to know:

1) If it is possible -safely enough- to unplug the SATA connector from the mainboard side; some say no, but further expert advice is always welcome;

2) If it is still possible to find and buy a working sata cable for the Time Capsule A1470, don’t mind if it’s second hand.

Thank You Everybody

for your patience and advice

Lorenzo

You can disconnect the SATA from the board. There is a protective lock which you can only slide off once outside the case.

I will take a few pics shortly to show you.

NOTE.. we warn people all the time that changing fans can result in broken SATA cables.

Getting a replacement is near impossible. Nobody much offers them so what you want is a dead or dying or very cheap second hand gen5 TC from second hand market, eBay etc.

IMHO a 5 year old TC is due retirement so it might be easier to take the opportunity to move on.
