Is there any way to change your Apple ID username other than changing between @icloud.com and @me.com?

I've been wanting to change the username of my apple ID for awhile but can't seem to figure out how to do it. All I can change on appleid.apple.com is between @icloud.com and @me.com with the same username.

I checked that article before creating this thread. The steps to change your apple ID didn't work. Tried both online through the web and the steps through iOS.
