Some iTunes albums "not available"

I recently ripped some CDs into my iTunes library on my iMac, only to find that some of them wouldn't play. The term "not available" is seen next to the song titles in the "Recently Added" folder.

Albums visible in iTunes with exclamation points I suddenly found that about half my music is missing from iTunes and none of the posted solutions have worked. I've been building a library for 10+ years with mostly CDs ripped in. I can see the albums in iTunes but the music is missing. When I try to play a song I get the exclamation point with the message that iTunes can't find the file. Neither can I - the files are just gone. I even use time machine back up but they're gone from there too. I am stumped - any solutions found? I use Mac Mojave and I don't have Apple Music or iTunes Match.

Purchased music not showing So this is driving me crazy ... my iTunes has a lot of music - much of it purchased from Apple. iMac 10.14.6 iTunes 12.9.5.5. Yesterday an external drive (which has nothing to do with my iTunes) crashed. Now I'm finding that a lot (not all) of my purchased tracks are not showing up in my iTunes. There's an (!) marker next to the tracks. I can see them in the list when I look at my Purchased music. But they've disappeared from my iTunes Music folder. I thought it should be easy to download them again but I was mistaken ... the download option is not offered when I go to my iTunes account. I have one Instrumental Hits album with around 100 tracks that I purchased from Apple. To restore my tracks I have to double click the track and get the error asking me to Locate the track. I have to cancel that and then the download icon appears against that track. Clicking on the download icon gets the track back into my iMac/iTunes. This cannot be done with the entire album ... it has to be track by track. That's just crazy! Isn't there an easier way to get my purchased music back?

Delete the broken entries in the library. Rip the tracks again. Check they play after ripping.

Do you have a subscription to either Apple Music or iTunes Match? Did the tracks play immediately after ripping? Has anything about your system changed since then? Is your media folder stored locally, or on an external or network drive?

Thanks. Neither Apple Music nor iTunes. Tracks never played. System hasn't changed in any way. Folder stored locally and backed up in cloud.
