launchpad remove icon no cross error

I don't want to uninstall my app, just want to remove/hide icons from launchpad. The cross doesn't appear on the icon after holding onto apps and wiggling.

MacBook Pro 15", macOS 10.15

The only way to "hide" an app from Launchpad is to uninstall it.

I cannot remove an icon in Launchpad. I have two apps I'm trying to remove from Launchpad. One is for Dashlane and the other for Keeper. I believe I've removed everything else about them but they persist. Both have a "?" on them. Any help? Thanks
