Log some feedback, and remember to include the particular search engine of interest: Product Feedback - Apple
Some search engines have had extensions, though those extensions have become less common as Safari security has been upgraded.
If you are not happy with Bing, Yahoo, Google, or DuckDuck go, simply use the search engine of your choice by accessing their web site.

At present there is no way to add additional search engines to default set.
