When using Sony Bluetooth Headphones with 2018 MacBook Air, i encounter an extremely loud static noise when video is playing but there is no audio output, for example first few seconds of Netflix intro, or on youtube when someone censors a word by dropping audio to 0, basically any time there is complete silence.
This has only become an issue since upgrading to Catalina.
Any help much appreciated!

Try different types of headphones if you have one available. This can help me further isolate the issue between your headphones and your Mac.
Alternately, also try connecting your Sony headphones onto another device besides your Mac to see if the issue persists.
