That is because you are signing up for a subscription, which will start automatically once the trial is up. Thus, it needs a valid payment method. You are still free to cancel at any time prior to the end of the trial, and nothing will be billed to your account.

No. I am making no commitment to subscribe after the year trial ends. You’re stating I am required to subscribe at the end of the “trial” which means the offer is neither free or a trial. This is basic stuff.

Why is a year being offered and links you to 1 week and pay after?

No. What they are signing up for is a free trial. The decision to subscribe will be reached at the end of the trial.

No. It’s still a subscription, you’re just not paying for it during the trial period. It’s then a decision to begin paying for it once the trial ends.

That is incorrect. As per the terms, you are committing to the subscription upon claiming the offer and It will start immediately once the trial has ended.
