When I add a contact directly from the phone or iMessage app, it does not appear in my “Contacts” app. I determined last night that they were being added to my Gmail addresses list. I do NOT have that account linked to my contacts app.
How can I get new contacts to be added to my iCloud account by default?

Ok, I found it.
Settings -> Contacts
There is a setting for “Default Account”
Somehow mine was set to Gmail (and has been for a LONG time). Tu I do not remember ever setting it.
