Got the new iPhone11, do I need to put my old SIM card in the new phone? I'm already doing the data transfer

Got the new iPhone11, do I need to put my old SIM card in the new phone? I'm already doing the data transfer. Do I need to transfer the SIM card first then do the data transfer, or do I not need the old sim card in the new phone?

iPhone 11, iOS 13

Hi SIMCardQuestion,

It sounds like you want to know about using a SIM card, and I want to help.

Your SIM card activates your cellular service. If you arranged to activate a new SIM card with your carrier, you should use a new SIM card, but otherwise you'll want to just transfer the SIM card so as to activate your service right away.

Activating your cellular service won't affect your data transfer.

Good luck!
