Being Hacked

I just got a phone call on my iPhone with the caller ID "Apple Tech". I was told that my email for my Apple devices has been compromised and that I need to go purchase a $100.00 Apple Gift Card immediately to get the hackers off!

is this a Scam?

Apple does not make such calls.

All such calls are scams from criminals attempting to steal your personal and financial information. The callers will often use number spoofing to pretend they are calling from a legitimate business. The correct course of action is to hang up on them, repeatedly if needed.

Yes. That is a scam. You are not going to get such a phone call from Apple.

Report it to Apple:

View your Recent Call History. Then take a screenshot of this number. Click on the encircled-I on the far-right of the phone call number. Rid of personal information.

Send this screenshot to Apple. Attach it to the eMail. Use this eMail address: reportphishing@apple.com
