I am having the Sam issue with my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018). The Touch Bar works, but that 1.5 inches on the right went blank, almost as if a light bulb went out.

i have gone through the suggestions mentioned in this post above, but no success.

Hello techvader1,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you're not seeing icons on the right side of the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro, however you're still able to tap and use the icons. You've come to the right place for help.

I'd like to start by having you reset the NVRAM, then SMC on your Mac. Test if the issue still occurs after:

If there's no change after, does the same issue occur if you change which apps and buttons are shown in the Touch Bar? What if you select the Expand Control Strip option, then deselect it?

Cheers!

Hi techvader1,

Thanks for getting back to us. If you have another user account, can you see if the same thing happens in that account? If you don't have another user account, here's how to create one for testing:

If this is happening in another user account as well, you may need to consider reinstalling macOS:

Take care.

Hi techvader1,

It sounds like there may be a potential hardware issue with the Mac at this point. See if anything is found when you run Apple Diagnostics next:

If there's no issues detected or solutions suggested, consider visiting an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for further diagnosis:

If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a Genius Bar reservation here:
