Installed Catalina, email vanished

I installed Catalina. Most of the old emails have vanished. Most of the rest, and most of new emails since installing Catalina, are blank.

How do get the old emails back?

How can I read the blank emails?

If they ate IMAP or exchange accounts the usual remedy is to go to Mail, Accounts and delete them with the "-"

Adding the account back will regenerate them from your providers web databases.

If you feel nervous, sign into your email accounts on Safari and prove to yourself they are there

If they are obsolescent POP accounts or On My Mac mailboxes you may have to search your backup drives.
