how can I find out the apple i.d if I can't get ahold of the previous owner

If you cannot contact the original owner, it useless to you. Contact the website to try to get a refund. If that's not possible then turn it in to the local police as it may be lost or stolen, or recycle it. Apple does not get involved with lost or stolen iPhones.

I purchased a iPhone from a website. but it says I need the previous Apple ID and passcode to activate it. I cannot get ahold of the previous owners. so how can I by pass it?
