There was a question - how to update cover for audiobooks in Catalina's book app? I couldn't find answer for a while, now I have the solution: It is necessary to update metadata of the files you import to iBooks first. Install some application for changing mp3 tags (e.g. Tag Editor) and change the covers of the files you need. Save and after that you can drag and drop files (or whole folder) to iBooks. You will see the covers you need. My god, why is it so so frustrating and complicated, Apple? :(

I also wanted to comment on the closed discussion thread, that's why I'm using this one.

Does Apple read all these threads and complaints about books in Catalina?

It's a total mess and disaster. How the **** could they divide iTunes in different apps without providing the same possibilities? Especially concerning changing meta data (album covers, titles and so on) and adjusting volume of different tracks? I contacted Apple Support, wrote to Craig and submitted feedback. But 10.15.3 is here and NOTHING changed. Is there anybody in the spaceship in Cupertino who reads these threads?

I'm not putting hope in Catalina updates anymore. Instead I'm waiting for macOS 10.16 and keep my fingers crossed. This "update" is a catastrophe.
