Frozen cursor and no keyboard found - MacBook Pro

My MacBook Pro starts up but the cursor doesn't move and is frozen. Then pops up a screen "Bluetooth Keyboard Setup: There isn't a keyboard connected". Not sure what to do to connect to the in-built keyboard. I can't change anything as the cursor doesn't move.

What can I do to fix it?

I've already tried various 'key combinations' (recommended online) to press and hold when powering up the Mac, doesn't work.

Hi ac240,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like your Mac isn’t recognizing its built-in keyboard. I’m happy to help. I suggest seeing if you’re able to reset the SMC:

If the keyboard doesn’t allow you to do so, you’ll want to contact Apple Support or visit your local Apple Authorized Service provider or Apple Store for further diagnostic and possible repair.

Have a great day.
