I’ve accidentally turned on firevault and it’s still encrypting. I went in recovery mode, went to disk utility then I unlocked my unmounted disk. It then said to go to file (at the top) then click stop encrypting. However there isn’t stop encrypting as an option in file. What should I do? Please help.

Then you will have to wait until it finishes encrypting. You can use the computer while it is encrypting.

i tried that but it’s grayed out and it isn’t letting me click it. I forgot to mention that it’s still encrypting and I’d like to turn it off while it is since it’s very slow
Is there anything else I can do?

Did you click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the File Vault dialog to unlock the settings?

You can stop encrypting from Menu/System Preferences - Security & Privacy/Filevault. Just turn it off.
