AirPods Name after connection and pairing issues

After working without issues, my AirPods (2nd Gen) connecting along with having the exclamation point, after turning my phone off and on twice and resetting my AirPods, they would not connect. Now they have but they appear in my Bluetooth devices with the name "H o 6-Q?x+Xhf .x[GYz<Q)wm':iT, and it keeps it at the end whenever I try to rename the device. Why does it have this name and how can that be fixed? Are my AirPods defective?

Hello,

Hmm, you should be able to change the name. Follow these steps:

  1. Place the connected AirPods in your ears and have the cover of the charging case open
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and select the circled “i” next to your AirPods
  3. Change the name or anything else on the screen
  4. For more detail: Adjust the settings of your AirPods

Good luck.
