Feedback

I would like to ask the moderators if they have considered adding an extra feedback link to replies which would be 'unhelpful' or something similar. I have received some excellent replies from people who clearly knew what they were talking about, and then there are some where people are just guessing at possible solutions or even worse are just playing the smart alec and wasting everyone's time. Whilst it may be the intention of the Community to help other users with Apple product related problems, there are some people who appear to revel in giving unwanted and unhelpful opinions on any subject and it would be useful to be able to post an acceptable response to indicate that the comment was unhelpful or better still some sort of kill switch which would remove 'smart alec' comments from a thread. Would this not be a useful addition to encourage the smart responders to give up ?

If you will read the ToU, there is an email address for the mods (or hosts) you can contact.

The "feature" you are requesting was part of an earlier iteration of these forums about 15 - 20 years ago and, after some time, it was decided that the unhelpful option had more negative than positive results. The hosts have suggested that we simply ignore such posts and, if the advice is incorrect, to just post the correct procedure/troubleshooting addressing the OP. And, once you have reached the level to be able to report posts to the hosts, you can just do exactly that: report it for whatever reason you believe that action should be taken - so the feature already exists. The screenshot shows the report button available to me on this thread.
