No Need to Change Exchange Password on iPhone or iPad starting with IOS 12

In the past when I changed my work domain password, I needed to update the password for my corporate Exchange email account on my iPhone and iPad. I just found out that I no longer need to do this thanks to IOS 12 using the trust set up between the device and Active Directory. I update my domain password using my corporate interface, and email and calendar updates keep flowing seamlessly on my iPhone and iPad. (note we are using O365 - not sure if this would be true of in-house Exchange/AD setups).

Also note that there will no longer be a password field associated with the email account on your iPhone or iPad (which may cause confusion the first time you run into this).

I posted this because as a courtesy because I at first didn't know this. I thought I had to update on my device after updating my domain password, and I couldn't locate the password field. I saw lots of posts with complaints about this. I checked with corporate IT and they explained how it worked. Again, this may not be universal behavior for Exchange email accounts. Password still shows up for email accounts for other non-Exchange services like AOL or Yahoo.

Important Update...about an hour after I updated my domain password, I was prompted to re-enter my Exchange email password on my iPad and iPhone. So even though there is no way to proactively change the password, you will eventually be prompted for the new one. Real shame, I started off being impressed that I didn't have to update anymore, now I know I have to update it but I have to just passively wait for my device to ask. No need to delete the account and add it again though, as some other folks have said. And I'm wondering now about the professional knowledge of our IT support...

I tried to delete/edit the original post but couldn't figure out how to do it or if it is even possible - hence this update. Forgive me for any confusion.
