Disk Utility - Why do I have 3 drives?

Hi,

So I just erased and reinstalled my macOS on my MacBook Air, but when I came to check everything, I saw I now have 3 volumes in Disk Utility...

I know the the latest OS means my data is stored in a volume called Macintosh HD - Data, but as you can see I have a second one...

Can anyone help? Can I reduce the volumes so I have them back to the usual 2?

No more room and too many Macintosh HD Data Drives I am at capacity - 121.02 GB (this is a computer revived from my daughter) and disk utility shows that I have 15.05 GB used, 99.67 GB in "other volumes", and 6.29 GB Free. I cannot update apps, or OS. I have moved all to the cloud and cleared off all other items I could. It does not appear to be partitioned, but I do show three Macintosh HD-Data Drives. Is that normal? Why 2 drives on my desktop? Background ... I just bought a new MacBook Air, and the first time I tried to initialize it, something was corrupted, so I started over from scratch. I did a clean install of Catalina, then used Migration Assistant to reload everything from a clean Time Machine back-up. Except for the fact that I seem to have lost all of my saved passwords, everything seemed fine. But then I looked at my desktop: it shows 2 hard drives. One is named "Macintosh HD - Data" and the other "Duncintosh" (the name of the hard drive on my old MacBook Pro). They appear to be virtually identical in content. And they are both using just under 200GB of drive space. Disk Utility shows me 3 drives: Duncintosh, Duncintosh - Data, and Macintosh HD - Data. Can I safely delete the Macintosh HD - Data? How? I want that 200 GB of space.

Why do I have 3 disks on my Mac ? I recently erased my Macintosh Data disk and I also tried to delete the Macintosh HD disk but my computer wouldn't let me do so. I reinstalled macOS and I just checked disk utilities to see this. Which one should I delete ? And how can I delete the Macintosh HD disk ?

It was not a complete re-initilizing of the parent drive—

From Internet Recovery>Disk Utility>View>Show All Devices

The way forward is start over.
