Disable Broadcasting of SSID While Tethered via USB - iOS 13

Hello all,

I have an iPhone 11 running iOS 13. I work in an environment where wireless hotspots are not allowed but USB tethering is. I previously had an Android-based phone and could tether it to my MacBook Pro and use it’s cellular connection for Internet access without and SSIDs being broadcast out.

I need to do the same thing with the iPhone but no matter what the phone broadcasts it’s SSID. Even after I turn off Bluetooth and WiFi and just connect the phone to the laptop via USB my coworkers are still seeing the SSID of my iPhone.

I should note that they aren’t seeing it as a standard WiFi icon, rather, they see it as a small chain link with the phone’s SSID name next to it.

I’m not really sure at this point what else to try so I was hoping maybe you folks could help me out.
