if i update my ipad to the new ipadOS will i need to enter my apple id

i dont know my apple ID password on the ipad and thats not a big deal to me i have my own fingerprint lock and code lock for the ipad, my question is if i update my ipad to the newest version will it ask me for the apple id password after the installation to continue like it does with a factory reset ? because if so the ipad will be useless to me. I want to update but i am worried if i do i will get locked out. i dont need any help when it comes to how to fix the apple id i just need to know if it will prompt me to enter it to continue after the ipad update, Thanks !

Before you can download the update you will be asked for the Passcode. This is the number you enter when you open the iPad. You will not be able to use TouchID for this.

You may have to sign in to your Apple ID after the update completes. It depends on how many steps up in iOS you are updating. To recover your Apple ID and password check here:

Better to get it resolved now while you still have access to the Apple ID and password.

Its a really bad idea to have an inaccessible Apple ID.

i don't have access's to it the email and password i don't know i bought it from someone seen it was unlocked and bought it. not till later i found out it had the appleid on it still at that point i got no response from the person...

In that case, you are always going to be in danger of getting locked out. There's not much that can be done at this point.

Out of curiosity, is Find My iPad turned on? Settings->Account(top of Settings)->iCloud->Find My iPad

thanks sounds pretty risky to update it i dont have the apple email anymore or password so if it does ask ill be locked out for good , i currently have v10.2.1
